Auguste J. KPOGNON

Auguste is a respected leader in the international health and development field, with 25 years of experience managing donor-funded programs in West and Central Africa and the Caribbean.

Auguste is a respected leader in the international health and development field, with 25 years of experience managing donor-funded programs in West and Central Africa and the Caribbean.

He was previously Country Representative with Population Services International (PSI) in Benin, CIV, Togo, Rwanda, Cameroon and the Central African Republic. He also served as Country Director for CARE in Cote d’Ivoire and more recently as Jhpiego’s Country Director in Haiti.

Auguste successfully managed programs focused on social marketing, reproductive health/FP, maternal child health, and STI/HIV, safe water, malaria, emergency response/food security, IDP assistance and reintegration, livelihood promotion and conflict mitigation & resolution.  He has extensive experience with bilateral and multilateral donors and various private US foundations.  

In addition to his knowledge of the WCA landscape, Auguste has displayed excellent skills in relationship building with key partners, and a robust understanding of various donor’s policies, procedures and requirements.  He holds an M.B A. in International Business from the American University in Washington DC.

Auguste Kpognon brings UNFPA Burkina Faso his expertise in private sector business development, public health project design implementation, supply chain management, capacity building, behavior change communication, community based interventions, operations research, monitoring & evaluation, fundraising, and negotiation / coordination between host countries and donors.  He also brings to the platform some experience in humanitarian and emergency response programming in insecure environments, including health projects responding to national disasters.
